About Library

WALK-INS:

It is a matter of great pride for us that the number of readers, users of library facilities, is going up from year to year. During the current academic year, on average, more than 150 students visit the library for reading, book-borrowing, and internet surfing. The Internet is a new thing for the majority of our students who come from a rural background. Students also get knowledge and self-learning with the benefits of the Internet facility provided by the library and add to their surrounding knowledge. The library is used by the majority of students to read and refer to volumes of reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, oxford companions, books and journals with literature for competitive examinations, magazines, journals, and newspapers. The students who have graduated from this college and are preparing for the Net/Slet or G.P.S.C examination are also allowed to make use of these treasures of information. We have a practice of maintaining the record of all visitors of the library, students, faculty, and scholars from outside, and thus we keep our statistical analysis of visitors. It produce us report on the interest of students in the library.

The reading room also has on display the pictures of laureates from Gujarati literatures and Freedom fighters, Posters on value based education and geographical maps of the globe, the continents, the country and the states. These posters not only provide students information but also act as model of the inspiration to the young generation.

MEMBERSHIP :

Every student enrolled in the college and every member of the teaching or non-teaching staff is issued a library ticket to borrow books from the library. The ticket bears on its one side the details of the ticket-holder such as name, address, roll number, class, and phone number, and the other side has instructions and rules of the library to be followed. Every student is issued two books at a time on his/her ticket. The college has introduced a special provision for students from extremely poor class. The BPL card-holder student is issued five books at a time. Many students have benefitted from the new scheme. Preferring automation in library administration, we issued membership tickets to students through computerization. Their issue-return function was also computerized.

Our college library is the preferred source of information for research students as we have a large number of books on a variety of subjects. The library provides a special service to the university students engaged in their M.Phil. and PhD research. We have no of such research students who are issued five books at a time to pursue their research. The member of staff from the college of the campus are also granted membership of the college library and issued books as par rules of the library.
